The XY representing humans at a biological level rather than any other typical stereotype, even avoiding the words 'man' or/and 'woman'.
By keeping the context of these ideas in the form of a publication cover, it was easier to communicate with the collaborator on what their opinions were, ensuring that the design is staying informed, yet is still in keeping with the overall concept and aesthetic of what they're after.
After many different designs, patterns and approaches, it was clear that it needed to be simplified. This is because the marbling had yet to be added, hence the bottom row of ideas, they are completely different from the above — more complicated sketches.
The final design, (Bottom left) is as simple as it gets. The stretching of the type represents the coming together and the 'uprising' of humanity as a singular being, instead of two separate beings (male / female).
The application of this logo will be explained more in-depth in a later blog post.
