Intern Mag Session — OUGD505

As a day long session, Alec, editor and chief of Intern Magazine came and visited us for a session on starting up your own zine and insuring that the zine was applicable to your target audience in relation to content. And also where the zine could potentially go in the future in terms of off the page promotion.



In our group of 5 we set about thinking of a concept to base the whole thing around. We came up with a music based magazine that would focus on all types of genres and music culture.

• Free Magazine
• Quarterly
• Would be funded by the artists it promotes (At a very low cost)
• Could potentially lead to a record label
• Would allow the artists to express their own identity rather than the label do it for them

After finishing up the concept and research, we presented to the group and had a chat with Alec about how the effective the magazine would be in the real world:

Overall, this session has had a huge impact on my Studio Brief 02 development in regards to creating a zine that is meant for a specific audience, it was great to chat with someone full-time in the industry and I will without a doubt be using the skills learned on this day in the future.
