Typeface — Studio Brief 01 — OUGD505

As experimentation with type, doing a side-by-side comparison gave the opportunity to gain feedback on what typeface people thought would work best with the concept.













The results are as follows:

• Didot = 5
• Copperplate = 0
• DIN = 1
• Akzídenz Grotesk = 1
• Circular = 1
• Helvetica Neue = 0
• OCR = 1
• Bodoni = 3

From the people asked, it was clear that the reasoning for using a more rounded typeface like Circular to represent the spherical features of a planet was well received. However more votes were cast in favour of the more traditional serif typeface like Didot and Bodoni. It was said that the sophistication that the differing in line weights added more emphasis to the pattern that would be paired with the type.
