I have written and proofed my copy for the leaflet, it is as follows:
Step 1
Get to grips with the brief that has been set.
Ensure you are fully aware of what the client is asking of you. If in doubt, take the time to ask any questions you may have.
Gain confidence and know that no brief is unsolvable.
Step 2
Research. Look in depth at the clients history, educate yourself on them. After you feel you know the client well enough, now’s the time to start building a visual library of possible outcomes.
Inspire yourself.
Step 3
Get to grips with the brief that has been set.
Ensure you are fully aware of what the client is asking of you. If in doubt, take the time to ask any questions you may have.
Gain confidence and know that no brief is unsolvable.
Step 4
Draw, now’s the time to let loose on all of the research you’ve been gathering to begin the first stages of creating a solution.
At this point, nothing you do ismeant to be perfect, don’t allow your thoughts to cloud your creativity.
Step 5
Now for the easy job of digitalising the drawings you think are the best solutions to the brief.
You must also be asking for feedback on each stage to ensure your hard work isn’t going to waste.
Step 6
Finalise and pitch. Evaluate your process in a language the client will understand. Reflect on your journey and ensure that there are no ‘happy accidents’ that have zero explination or perhapse are lacking a sturdy concept. The client came to you with a problem,
it is your job to solve it. If you follow the basic stages outlined in this leaflet,
I garuntee you will leave the client happy and your wallet slightly heavier.
By keeping the copy to a minimum, I feel that the text will have much more room to breathe next to the images. Step 6 being an exception as it is the final passage and needs to be detailed.
But overall, I'd like to think that my copy is easy to follow, but still doesn't dictate to the reader on how to execute the design process, I hope it is simply a guide and nothing more. This is because I think it is vital that everyone has their own way of doing things, so I'd like to think of this tips as well informed 'tips'.
