Concept Generating - Summer Brief - OUGD504

This project must "celebrate the richness and diversity of type as it is to a specific place". That being said, I want my concept to be strong, and not to mimic what the rest of my peers may come up with.

By utilising the information within the above mind map, I am able to gauge what concept has the most variables, but whilst still maintain an original feel.

The consumerist route would be easily executed as it is extremely easy to access as it is everywhere we look, this is why I narrowed it down to a sort of sub-concept such as bands and publications. But again, I feel this is too unoriginal and will not interest me a much as the Industrial aspect would.

My personal interests consist of industrial Britain, more specifically the architecture of such buildings in the north. Where a lot of the factories and mills are still in-tact and in some rare occasions, still functioning. My first thoughts are to incorporate this very specific style of typography into the concept. With it often being hand rendered and quite old and deteriorated I think it is a nice theme to stick with as it will be a consistent style and not look like a library of random pictures that could have been taken whist I was on holiday.
